The Island of Cyprus is located in the eastern Mediterraean sea south of Turkey & west of Syria.After Sardinia & Sicily it is the next largest Island in the Mediterranean. The Highest point on the Island is Mt Olympus at approximatly 6000ft. The Island is divided into six adminstrative districts with the northern part known as the Turkish occupied area. The southern part is Greek Cypriot.
Cyprus has two Mountain ranges the Pentadaktylous range with a maximum height of 1042m running along the north coast. The Troodos Massif (Mt Olympus at 1953m) is located in the central & south western part of the Island. Between the two ranges lies the plain of Messaoria. The climate is hot, dry summers with changeable winters.
The Mediterranean climate makes Cyprus a very popular, Year round destination & is a particular favourite for the British. Cyprus is a perfect destination for popular outdoor sports activities such as Cycling, Mountain Biking, Hiking,Watersports, Golf & Diving. The Cyprus coast line has hundreds of miles of Beaches.
Cyprus with its Mediterranaen climate, enjoys an abundense of all year round, sunshine with with long dry Summers & mild Winters that are seperated by short Autumn and Spring seasons. Summer is a time of high temeratures with cloudless skies, but the sea breeze creates a pleasant atmosphere around the coastal & Mountainous areas. Winters are mild with some rain and snow on the Mountains. A perfect climate for Mountain Biking.
